Comprehensive Overview of the Oil & Gas Industry
From hydrocarbon basics to refineries, petrochemicals and utilities: the whole industry in 7 structured sessions.
Are you an engineering student, a graduate engineer, or a professional moving into oil and gas? This illustrated study guide walks you through how the whole industry fits together, from what a hydrocarbon is to how crude oil and natural gas are produced, treated, refined and turned into fuels, petrochemicals and fertilisers.
Each session uses process flow diagrams, tables and plain-language explanations drawn from more than 25 years of training operators at major producers. It finishes with the main engineering disciplines in the industry and the major oil and gas companies across the Middle East, so you know where your skills fit.
You will learn
- Hydrocarbon basics and properties
- Upstream, midstream and downstream explained
- Wells, Christmas trees, flow lines and gathering centres
- Crude oil separation, desalting, storage and metering
- Gas sweetening, dehydration, NGL, LPG and LNG
- Refinery units: CDU, FCC, hydrocracking, reforming
- Petrochemicals, fertilisers, power and utilities
- Engineering roles and Middle East employers
